Here at Exum Recording we are always looking for better ways to serve our clients, and in that ongoing effort to provide artists with high quality recordings we are pleased to welcome Nathan Scott and New London Music to the Exum Recording team! Having written and played on numerous records, Nathan brings in not only his 10+ years of record production experience but also a variety of gear, there to aid our clients in the search for their perfect sound. That gear includes various Gibson, Taylor, Fender and Epiphone Guitars/Basses. Marshall, Vox, Orange, and Fender amps, and a wonderful sounding Premier drum kit (more on the kit later.) When you add all this to the quality modern and vintage recording equipment Exum Recording has always been known for, this is a winning combination for not only our studio, but our clients as well. Now back to our new studio kit huh?

As you may know, recording the drums is almost always one of the longer parts of the recording process. Unlike most instruments where 1 or 2 microphones are usually all you would need to capture that instruments sound, the drums can easily use 8 and more! So when we got a kit for the studio, we knew it was going to be paramount that we learn how to dial it in to get a great tone consistently for a variety of styles of music. So we brought in local drummer named Chris Corey to help us put the kit through it’s paces. Besides being a poster boy for 24 Hr. fitness and protein shakes, Chris is also an excellent drummer, so it was wonderful having him in the studio for the day. I recorded my whole album at Exum studio. It was a great experience ! Scott made sure I was comfortable and ready to record every session. The equipment at Exum is industry standard and can compete with any of the big LA studios ! I will be recording my next album at Exum.

Smooth high frequency response, tape saturation bringing out even and odd harmonics, and that beautiful tape compression leaves us wondering why the world stop using it. Oh Yah editing!!
